Alabama's Original Curling Club
Founded in 2018, the Rocket City Curling Club is the first club in Alabama dedicated to the Winter Olympic sport of curling. We currently curl at the Ice Sports Center in Huntsville, AL.
If you've ever wanted to try curling yourself, join us for one of our upcoming Learn To Curls! Our 90-minute classes are fun and informal, and once you've learned the basics, you're ready to play in one of our weekly curling leagues.
New leagues start three to four times a year, and we're always looking for new members! No equipment is necessary—our club has brooms and sliders for members to borrow. Send us an email if you have any questions or if you're looking to learn more.
Registration is open for the Rocket City Curling Club's fall leagues! This season's draws will be held on Saturday evenings, starting September 24.
We've closed team signups for this season, but we've still got room for any interested individual curlers (or pairs of curlers). If you'd like to join our 9-week league (or if you have any other questions), just send us an email!
WHAT IS CURLING?
If you're reading this, you've probably seen curling on TV—maybe even when Team USA won gold in 2018—and wondered what the heck is going on. There's a bunch of rocks, there's some yelling... and what are those guys with the brooms doing, anyway?
First played in Scotland over 500 years ago, curling is now one of the fastest-growing Olympic sports in the world, particularly in the southern United States. Curling is an opportunity for people of all ages and backgrounds to come together to compete and socialize, with a focus on mutual respect and good sportsmanship.
We love our sport, and we think you will too. Check out this two-minute video from Curling Canada (or this longer intro from USA Curling) to learn more about the game—then contact us and find out how to join the fun!
