Alabama's Original Curling Club
Founded in 2018, the Rocket City Curling Club is the first club in Alabama dedicated to the Winter Olympic sport of curling. We currently curl at the Ice Sports Center in Huntsville, AL.
If you've ever wanted to try curling yourself, join us for one of our upcoming Learn To Curls! Our 90-minute classes are fun and informal, and once you've learned the basics, you're eligible to join one of our weekly curling leagues.
New leagues start three to four times a year, and we're always looking for new members! No equipment is necessary—our club has brooms and sliders for members to borrow. Send us an email if you have any questions or if you're looking to learn more.
The 2022 Winter Olympics have their opening ceremonies on Friday, February 4, kicking off nearly three weeks of elite curling competition between some of the best teams in the world! See the full schedule online.
If you're interested in trying curling out for yourself, now's the perfect time! The Rocket City Curling Club will be holding several events for new and beginning curlers during and after the Winter Olympics. Stay tuned for more details!
WHAT IS CURLING?
If you're reading this, you've probably seen curling on TV—maybe even when Team USA won gold in 2018—and wondered what the heck is going on. There's a bunch of rocks, there's some yelling... and what are those guys with the brooms doing, anyway?
First played in Scotland over 500 years ago, curling is now one of the fastest-growing Olympic sports in the world, particularly in the southern United States. Curling is an opportunity for people of all ages and backgrounds to come together to compete and socialize, with a focus on respect and good sportsmanship.
We love our sport, and we think you will too. Check out this two-minute video from Curling Canada to learn more about the game—then contact us and find out how to join the fun!
